PUT ON THE NEW SELF

"But now you must rid yourself of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips... and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its creator" (Collosians 3:8 - 10 NIV)

One day a scorpion wanted to cross a river that was very wide and fast flowing. By that time a large frog came hopping. The scorpion called him and asked him to carry him across the river and prmissed to show the place where there were many insects to eat. The frog said, "No, I know all about you, you are a treacherous creature and you kill everyone with that powerful sting in your tail." But the scorpion pleaded and persuade him. The scorpion climed on the Frog's back and the frog leapt into the water. thu current was strong but the frog swam hard and managed to battle his way through. They reached half way before the scorpion suddenly decided to break his promise and with a flash of his tail stung the frog with his deadly poison. The frog became paralized and was unable to fight against the current. As they both started to drown and sink the frog gave a final questioning glance at the murderer as to ask why he did this for he didn't see any reason. The Scorpion apologizes to his victim with his final breath - "I could not help it, It is my nature".

It is such a nature that needs to be refined. The human nature, as seen in the Bible portion unless refined by the blood of Jesus, is like that of the scorpion. The sweter they speak, the nature that is not refined or changed by the power of God, becomes more perilous. We cannot help ourselves but Jesus can. Submit yourself to him without any reserve and allow Jesus to renew your soul and your whole life. He will change you and you will never be the same.
